While
becoming more economically feasible, digital medium format systems are
advancing in ease of use. This evolution is apparent in Phase One's
Sensor+ technology—the core of the new P 40+.
Sensor+ gives the P 40+ two shooting modes. In its standard mode, the
back captures full 40-megapixel images at up to 800 ISO and 1.2 frames
per second. In more demanding situations, with the press of a button,
the camera switches to 10MP and gains four times the light sensitivity
at 3200 ISO and a shooting speed of nearly 2 frames per second . From
high-end wedding, fashion and fine-art photographers to
photojournalists, the choice of capture modes in a single camera system
frees photographers to focus on the job at hand rather than worry over
equipment.
Both modes deliver 16-bit capture and a 12.5 f-stop dynamic range for
exceptional detail and gradation across an entire image.
Combined with Phase One's 645 camera components and Capture One
software, the P 40+ enjoys a seamless marriage of lens, body, software,
and back.

New Hahnemuhle Sugar Cane
In
expanding their lines, inkjet paper manufacturers are increasingly
turning to environmentally friendly materials and production methods.
We've seen a number of unique papers enter the market in the past year
including Moab by Legion's mulberry-based Moenkopi papers and
Hahnemuhle's aptly named Bamboo. Now, Hahnemuhle adds another
renewable-resource paper with Sugar Cane.
In the
production of raw sugar, a fibrous residue called bagasse remains.
Hahnemuhle takes that bagasse and uses it as the principle fiber in its
new Sugar Cane paper. Comprising the rest of the paper is cotton
recycled from the company's production rag material.
A
substantial fine art matte paper, Sugar Cane weighs in at 300 gsm. Its
pastel paper texture and natural white body make Sugar Cane a premium
surface for exhibition prints.
It's currently available in standard media sizes from 8.5x11" sheets up to 44"x39' rolls.
