With the introduction of new lenses such as the Elmarit-M 21mm f/2.8 and Elmarit-M 24mm f/2.8 and continued popularity of other wide angle lenses, the need for a more powerful viewfinder is great. Since the M System's viewfinder cannot accomodate these focal lengths, the framing must be carried out using a separate additional viewfinder.
This is the additional viewfinder that will give you the opportunity to adjust the angle of view for 21, 24, and 28mm — the three most attractive wide angle focal lengths. The viewfinder's optical system consists of five lenses, two of which are shifted to change the framing. The optical performance meets the high standard of the Leica M6 viewfinder.
It can be used with eyeglasses (eye reliefe 15mm to the last lens surface) or without (corrective lenses can be screwed on to correct eye defects). They eyepiece also has a rubber coating as a protection for eyeglasses.
The viewfinder's housing is made of anodized aluminum. The foot of the viewfinder can be locked into the camera's flash shoe using a large lockign screw.
