Produces a wide range of colors. When used alone, it gives deep blue tones. When used after sepia toning, red colors are produced, their brilliance determined by the type of paper used. Partial toning in Hypo-Alum Toner followed by Gold 231 gives blue-black shadows and soft reddish highlights.
