This developer is an economical metol-hydroquinone film developer. Films developed in Divided D-76 have normal grain, good sharpness and excellent tonal gradation.
This developer is a two-bath compensating developer. The chemicals in the Divided D-76 are used to prepare two working solutions. The film is placed in solution A for three minutes, and then in Solution B for two to four minutes, depending on the film and contrast desired. Solution A contains the developing agents and solution B contains the alkali. Development begins when the film is placed in solution B and lasts until the developing agents retained on the film are exhausted. This method of development holds back the highlights and brings out the shadow detail. The film speed is not reduced.
The shelf life of solution A is two months and solution B is a one-shot solution.
