This Kit contains a mounting block for the Canon 1Ds Mark III and bellows with Canon bayonet.
The purpose behind designing the Ultima 35 is to give the photographer a lower cost option to the medium format digital back. The advent of the full-frame sensor based in a 35mm DSLR body made this possible. Considering a digital back producing a 70MB file, a sliding back and a 4x5 camera can easily cost $20,000 or more, the Ultima option begins to make sense.
This combination (the Ultima 35 and the Canon EOS 40D/5D, EOS-1Ds; Mamiya ZD, Nikon D2X or Nikon D3) gives the photographer the flexibility to shoot with all of the attendant movements of a view camera as well as the ability to take the 35mm DSLR on location and use it's "regular" lenses. All of this can be done untethered and without the need of a bulky battery pack.
The camera as a standard kit will allow the DSLR to be mounted in a horizontal position. Add an L-bracket to mount the DSLR in a vertical position.
