This Ultima 35 is designed for the Canon EOS 20D (sold separately). The 20D functions as the capture device and the Ultima 35 is the front and rear standard that swings, tilts and shifts laterally and vertically for perspective corrections and creative focusing. No shutter is necessary, since metering and exposure functions are controlled by the 20D. The 20D is powered by batteries housed in a battery grip. You must have the battery grip attached to the 20D before mounting the camera to its dedicated mounting plate. This kit has both plates for mounting your camera vertically or horizontally to the Ultima 35.
Because metering is done at the chip, there is no need to compute bellows compensation. Both front and rear standard movements provide quick and easy set up of images. The Ultima 35 places the sensor exactly in the optical axis vertically, horizontally and front-to-back. Any rear movement, whether swing, tilt or shift keeps the film plane on axis and in focus.
The camera body can be taken off quickly and used as a handheld camera with its own compatible lenses for shots that require a stand-alone application. The camera easily remounts onto the Ultima 35 in perfect alignment for studio shooting.
