Interchangeable Lenses and Optical SteadyShot

The NEX-VG20 is compatible with Sony's E-mount lenses which incorporate a smaller, lighter design and are optimized with the silent operation and AF needed for video shooting. Additional options include the Sony/Minolta A-mount lenses, compatible when used with the optional LA-EA2 adapter. The Optical SteadyShot image stabilization compensates for camera shake to deliver stunningly smooth video.

The 3.0” Xtra Fine LCD Touch Screen features TruBlack technology with remarkable brightness and higher contrast of the 912,000 pixels. View natural, realistic colors evening bright conditions due to the reduced glare. The display also swivels up to 270 degrees to insure comfortable viewing angles regardless fo the shooting angle.

Capture AVCHD 2.0 Video and 16.1MP RAW Stills

Enjoy incredible DSLR quality detail and clarity with 16.1MP RAW still images, plus the ability to capture fast action sequences with a continuous burst rate of up to 6 frames per second. The NEX-VG20 can capture video in full 1920x1080 high definition at up to 24Mbps in AVCHD 2.0 codec, ideal for recording on to Blu-ray Disc media.

Switch between AF/MF for Creative Control

Whether shooting video or still images, access to the manual focus features is as easy as flipping a switch.  Access full manual control of the Iris, Shutter Speed, Gain, White Balance , Recording Volume, through  convenient hot keys and jog dial. Manual features allow the options to adapt to almost any lighting condition.

Professional Grade Advanced Controls

The NEX-VG20 includes advanced capture and control options normally reserved for professional cameras, such as expanded focus for precise manual focus control, zebra and peaking for precision focus and exposure adjustments.

Four White Balance Modes and 25-point Auto Focus

Four different white balance modes allow customizing to each specific situation. Choose from Auto, One Push, Indoor and Outdoor settings. The 25 point Auto Focus covers a very wide area of the scene for accurate focusing even when the subject is far from the center of the frame.

Built-in and External Microphone Options

The NEX-VG20 features a Quad Capsule Spatial Array stereo microphone. The four precision placed capsules are each angled at 45 degrees to insure exceptional front-side directivity and stereo separation. External shotgun microphones can be added through the dedicated mic input, plus the audio can be monitored with optional headphones plugged in to the built-in headphone jack

Dual Memory Sick and SD Media Compatibility

The NEX-VG20 features two media options. Choose from Memory Stick Duo, PRO Duo and PRO-HG Duo media or SD, SDHC and SDXC cards. All media is sold separately.
