The Carl Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 Wide Angle Prime lens delivers a combination of close focus and wide-angle perspective for 1:4 macro photography, all in one. Carl Zeiss Sonnar Optics
The first Carl Zeiss lens for the Sony E-mount line features the legendary Sonnar optical design and aspherical lenses to compensate for distortion.  Also featured is an ED element that suppresses chromatic aberration, plus excellent corner-to-corner sharpness even at the f/1.8 aperture setting.

Circular Aperture and Large f/1.8 Aperture

Seven aperture blades form a near circle, resulting in a pleasing defocused circular effect on the background when set at the widest aperture.  The wide f/1.8 aperture is ideal for shooting interiors in low light, plus the ability for 1/4 macro shooting with accurate focus as close as 6.2 inches (16cm).

Direct Manual Focus and Quiet AF for Video

Ideal for portraits and macro shoots, the Direct Manual Focus (DMF) feature allows manual adjustment even after the AF locks on, all without the need for switching.

Shoot video with confidence, as the lens design is smooth and quiet, minimizing image jitter and noise and when shooting movies. A linear motor used for focus drive contributes to reduced noise, while a stepping motor provides smooth and quiet aperture adjustment
