The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GX1 combines the best features of a DSLR in to a compact size system, including the ability to change lenses.

The LUMIX DMC-GX1 combines a 16 megapixel Live MOS sensor with the Venus Engine, which allows image capture under almost any lighting situation. The ISO ranges up to a maximum 12800 high ISO, allowing low light capture while maintaining a clear, sharp resolution.

The LUMIX DMC-GX1 camera body and optional interchangeable lenses adopt the Micro Four Thirds System standard. The mirrorless design eliminates the need for a mirror box and optical viewfinder, drastically reducing the camera size while preserving the image quality. The built-in flash delivers a guide number of 7.6, and can be adjusted in 1/3 increments within a two stop range, Additional options include 1st curtain sync. flash and 2nd curtain sync flash

Venus Engine for Optimum Noise Reduction

The Venus Engine image processor uses technology that isolates chromatic noise from luminance noise, applying reduction separately for each. This process applies the optimal noise reduction to chromatic and luminance independently, producing a higher quality image.

In addition to the high-speed signal processing with its 3 CPUs, the image processor Venus Engine boasts its excellent performance with an adoption of noise reduction technology for even higher quality of image. By separating chromatic noise from luminance noise even more accurately by applying the optimal noise reduction to each, you can capture clear and beautiful images even when shooting at high ISO sensitivity levels.

Intelligent D-range Control and Intelligent Resolution

The Intelligent D-range Control offers even more natural looking by optimizing the exposure for each part of an image, preventing blocked shadows and blown highlights and helping ensure that gradation and details are reproduced beautifully including the blue color of the sky. An automatic backlight compensation function is activated whenever the camera detects the subject in backlight.

3.0 inch High Resolution LCD

The DMC-GX1 has a 3.0-inch 3:2 460,000-dot LCD with a 100% field of view. The wide-viewing angle is ideal for framing the shot and easily sharing the results afterwards. The Intelligent LCD function automatically adjusts the brightness in 11 steps based on the shooting conditions.

Creative Control and Photo Style Modes

Creative Control and Photo Style modes allow the option to creatively modify individual images, or make adjustments so the results match the original subject more closely. reative Control provides a variety of color options, such as  Expressive, Retro, High Key, Sepia, High Dynamic, Miniature Effect plus Low Key and Toy Effect modes.

The Photo Style option offers Standard, Vivid, Natural, Monochrome, Scenery, Portrait presets, all with fine adjustment of contrast, sharpness, saturation and noise reduction. Custom mode allows for user created settings, which can be accessed at any time.

iA (Intelligent Auto) Plus

The iA (Intelligent Auto) Plus provides added flexibility for all skill levels, both in still and video modes.

The popular iA functions include AF Tracking, Intelligent D-range Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Recognition and Intelligent ISO Control. The iA Plus mode also allows users to adjust defocusing area in the background, exposure compensation and white balance

Customized Settings and Touch Screen Operation  

The LUMIX DMC-GX1 features four user customized settings, plus frequently used functions can be retrieved easily through the Q-Menu button. The Q.Menu can be customized by dragging and dropping the favorite setting icons in to place. 

The camera can also be operated by touch screen, including auto focus and tripping the shutter. Zoom functions can also be controlled, including the a two speed adjustment (with compatible lenses).

1080p Full HD AVCHD Video

LUMIX DMC-GX1 also records 1080p Full HD AVCHD Video, providing twice the recording time in HD quality than conventional Motion JPEG. AVCHD is ideal for HD TV viewing, or through Blue-ray disc players. Access to the iA modes and visual stabilization offer additional options during recording, plus with Touch AF in video recording users can simulate professional style rack focusing. Still images can be captured during video recording simply by pressing the shutter button., plus an option to capture in MP4 video without conversion.
