This compact and easy-to-use mirrorless camera combines the simplicity of a point-and-shoot and the lens flexibility of a DSLR. With Nikon’s 1 NIKKOR interchangeable lens system, which features image stabilization (VR), and improved low-light capabilities, you’ve got a dynamic camera that you can take with you anywhere and get all the shots you’re after. And for those accustomed to framing their images in a viewfinder, the V1 offers a choice between an electronic viewfinder (EVF) and a large, high resolution LCD panel.

The V1 features a 10.1-megapixel CX-format, High-Speed AF CMOS sensor and an EXPEED 3 dual image processor. This combination produces great photos in low-light situations, high-speed processing, advanced autofocusing and fast data-transfer rates. It’s “hybrid” AF system combines both Phase and Contrast Detection which allows you to capture fast-moving subjects and shoot up to 10 fps in autofocus mode, 5 fps at full resolution and a maximum shooting speed of 60 fps.At the touch of a button, you can capture Full HD (1080p) movies. In fact, Nikon has developed one lens specifically for shooting movies: the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-100mm f/4.5-5.6 PD-Zoom, which provides three adjustable zoom speeds.Other unique features include Motion Snapshot, which combines still and video up to 20 seconds with playback in slow motion, and Smart Photo Selector, which records up to 20 images and automatically selects and records the single best shots based upon movement and composition.

One thing that sets the V1 apart from its mirrorless sibling, the J1, is its choice between viewing your images with an electronic viewfinder (EVF) or its large 3", high-resolution LCD panel with 100% view. The camera’s eye sensor allows you to toggle between EVF and LCD views by placing your eye to the EVF.Another feature that separates the V1 from the J1 is its built-in i-TTL hot shoe which allows you to use the optional Nikon 1 SB-N5 Speedlight in situations when there isn’t enough available light to properly illuminate your subject.

The 10-30mm standard zoom lens is versatile enough for family outings, group shots and portraits, with the  of  a f/3.5-5.6 maximum aperture range (picture angle equivalent of a 27-81mm in 35mm format). Vibration reduction (VR II) reduces the chance of blurred photos. Retractable lens barrel design reduces overall size for increased portability.

1 NIKKOR 10mm f/2.8 Lens

This compact 10mm CX-format, wide-angle lens (27mm equivalent in 35mm format) renders sharp photos for a variety of needs, including everything from landscapes to group shots. Even low light moments have details brought to life with the fast f/2.8 aperture.
