This latest addition to the Nikon 1 line of compact mirrorless cameras with interchangeable lens capabilities offers more creative options than its J1 predecessor. In addition to a higher resolution LCD screen and some stylish new color options, the J2 offers a new Creative Mode that provides several new shooting options, including Panorama, Selective Color, Miniature, Soft, Night Landscape, Backlighting and Night Portraits. It also provides rapid access to P (Program) S (Shutter-Priority) A (Aperture-Priority) and M (Manual) exposure modes, similar to those found in DSLR cameras.

The J2 also features a 10.1-megapixel CX-format, High-Speed AF CMOS sensor and an EXPEED 3 dual image processor. This combination produces great photos in low-light situations, high-speed processing, advanced autofocusing and fast data-transfer rates. Its extremely responsive Advanced Hybrid Autofocus system captures fast action with amazing clarity while its 73-point AF array ensures precise focus, even on moving subjects.

The Nikon 1 J2 retains its predecessor’s user-friendly features such as Full HD (1080p) video recording and ability to capture fast-moving subjects at 10 fps with AF, or up to 60 fps with AF locked in on the first frame. Creative freedom is also enhanced with its Motion Snapshot mode that gives you the ability to capture a spontaneous moment as a still image and combines it with a slow motion movie vignette, while its Smart Photo Selector captures multiple shots and lets the camera select the best one automatically. There’s even a built-in flash for times when there just isn’t enough light to get the shot you want.

The 10-30mm standard zoom lens is versatile enough for family outings, group shots and portraits, with the of a f/3.5-5.6 maximum aperture range (picture angle equivalent of a 27-81mm in 35mm format).
