This sophisticated hot-shoe mounted flash is the first of its kind to feature a rotatable touchscreen display that allows for easy operation, especially for portrait photographers. Its illuminated display rotates 90° when shooting in portrait orientation, making the settings easier to read and control.

The 52 AF-1 has all of the benefits of its popular predecessor, the 50 AF-1, in addition to some advanced developments. Its guide number has been increased to 50 for ISO 100/21° and 105mm focal length. Its 300° horizontally swiveling and 90° vertically tilting reflector, flip-out reflector card and built-in wide-angle diffuser for 12mm illumination all ensure optimal lighting control. 

Other highlights include TTL and manual operation, servo flash mode, high-speed flash synchronization, 1st and 2nd curtain sync, a maximum recycle time of 3.5 seconds, 240 full-power flashes with NiMH rechargeable batteries, a modeling light and a USB port for easy installation of firmware updates.
