The patented original holder gives the user a number of benefits.  First of all the holder flexes around the virtual drum ensuring a completely straight scanline while scanning.  Secondly the magnetic rubber overlay and the metal underlay gives you the easiest way to mount an original without the use of tape, gel or glass.  And this also means that your origninal is treated in the most cautious way.
