This compact, rangefinder-style digital camera makes a great travel companion for any serious photo enthusiast. The X-E1’s 16.3-megapixel APS-C sensor and EXR Pro image processor are the same as its bigger brother X-Pro1’s, yet it is housed in a smaller body due to the absence of an optical viewfinder. However its electronic viewfinder utilizes a 2.36M dot OLED, which is an improvement over the X-Pro1.
In terms of performance, the X-E1 features an ISO range of 100 – 6400 (expandable to 25,600 for JPEG only), Full HD movie recording with stereo mic, a 2.5mm stereo mic socket and compatibility with wired remote control units. It also has a 2.8" LCD, and a built-in pop-up flash.
This kit includes a bright and compact XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R OIS LM Fujinon X-mount lens that allows for plenty of photographic flexibility and optimizes low-light shooting. Its LM designation indicates it uses a Linear Motor focusing system, which is both fast and quiet, which is particularly beneficial when shooting movies. The X-E1 also accepts all Fujinon X-mount lenses.

X-Trans CMOS Sensor-Enabling high quality imaging: The X-E1's sensor adopts the same high-performance 16M X-Trans CMOS found in the X Series flagship X-Pro1 model. Featuring an originally developed color filter array with a highly random pixel arrangement, its X-Trans CMOS sensor eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter, which is used in conventional systems to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. The innovative array lets the X-Trans CMOS sensor capture unfiltered light from the lens and produce unprecedented resolution. The unique random arrangement of the color filter array is also highly effective in enhancing noise separation in high-sensitivity photography.
