Astonishingly Slim with 20x Optical Zoom
The PowerShot SX260 HS measures in at just over 1 1/4 inches thick, ideal for carrying just about anywhere. The 25mm - 500mm (35mm equivalent) lens range covers almost any subject, with Optical Image Stabilization to help produce bright and vivid images with spectacular clarity.

HS SYSTEM and DIGIC 5 Image Processor
The HS system combines the 12.1 Megapixel Canon CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5 Image Processor, for bright and clear captures with an even wider range of shooting situations. Low light captures are accomplished with minimal noise and maximum detail in both the highlight and shadow areas, up to 3200 ISO. The improved white balance analyzes several areas of the scene to determine whether different adjustments are needed.

Smart AUTO and Face ID
The expanded Smart AUTO makes it easier than ever to produce sharp, bright and colorful image and video captures. The Smart AUTO system recognizes 58 predefined shooting situations, then automatically selects the camera settings that will yield the best possible results.

Face ID provides an easy and advanced method for improving captures of friends and family. Simply take a picture of up to 12 faces for the  PowerShot SX260 HS to register, then enter names and ages. Once a person is registered, the camera will identify them out of a group and adjust focus and exposure to properly capture the face. Face ID can follow subjects against busy backgrounds and is ideal for tracking active children. The Servo AF feature captures three successive images with one press of the shutter.

Close up images of babies can also be achieved, with the PowerShot SX260 HS taking three successive images to insure that the best smile is captured. The flash is also disabled to avoid startling the baby.

Intelligent IS and GPS Technology
The PowerShot SX260 features Intelligent IS analyzes camera movement and applies the best shake correction method for each situation. For stills, the system automatically selects among Normal, Panning, Macro (Hybrid) and Tripod IS modes. For video, the system automatically selects among Dynamic, Powered, Macro and Tripod IS modes. Intelligent IS allows for concentrating on image capture, while the camera makes the most effective IS settings to assure the steadiest possible image.

The PowerShot SX260 HS digital camera is also equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) technology. Travel the world and let the camera automatically record the locations and local times of captured stills and videos. The included Map Utility software displays all locations on to a world map, providing a visual travelogue to share with family and friends.

Versatile Still and Video Shooting Options
The High-Speed Burst HQ feature utilizes the increased processing speed and power of the Canon DIGIC 5 Image Processor. Capture fast action stills at full resolution during continuous shooting, with a maximum of 10 shots in a single burst (approx. 10.3 fps).

The PowerShot SX260 HS digital camera features a 720p Movie Digest, which creates a high-quality video "highlight reel" of an event or special occasion. Simply switch on the Movie Digest feature and the PowerShot SX260 HS automatically records the four seconds before each still shot as a video capture, then auto-edits them into a short movie. The 720p HD resolution looks smooth and detailed when played back on an HDTV, plus unwanted scenes can easily be deleted with the included ImageBrowser EX software.
